Party really doesn’t get grocery shopping. Gerard had tried to leave him at home when he needed to go pick up stuff from the store, but every single time he insisted on coming. No matter how many times Gerard’s tried to explain to him that no, really, he doesn’t need to stock pile as much food as possible and get in and out of the store as fast as possible, Party doesn’t change his attitude to it. Most things Party and the other killjoys have managed to adapt pretty well too. They had to learn to change and adapt as necessary out in the Zones. The need to make sure they’ve got enough food though, Party just can’t seem to override it. And Gerard gets it, really he does. It makes sense, after years of living in a place where food was scarce and hard to come by, that Party would expect the sudden plentiful food to run out at some point. Gerard just gets a bit tired of Party grabbing things, dashing out of the store and setting off the security alarms every time they go. He has a system now though. Gerard just steers Party towards the fresh fruit and veg aisle and everything’s fine. Party’s fascinated by fresh food, which Gerard supposes is because he had never really eaten anything which didn’t come out of a can before he came home with Gerard. Personally he doesn’t get the appeal, he’d much rather have something frozen or take out, but he’s more than happy to indulge Party. Anything really to avoid a repeat of the bartering instance.
