Oops. It's been a while.
A very belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everybody! I meant to say that ages ago but between the relatives and physics coursework over the holidays, I ran out of time. I hope you all had a nice time though!
I spent the majority of my time doing the annual mad dash to visit relatives. We didn't watch any tv when my aunt's family was stopping as we have vastly different tastes. As a result we recorded things and watched them before New Year.
Doctor Who - I enjoyed it, but I wish they had spent just a few minutes longer explaining the plot and less on the goodbyes. The goodbyes did make me sad, but I had to spend a large chunk of it explaining the plot to my family and telling them who everyone was (despite all watching of them watching Doctor Who, they don't seem to retain as much mindless information about it as I seem to do.
Poirot - There were two new ones on! In the first there was someone who looked like Tim Henman. It was very off putting. And for someone who is very clean and tidy, Poirot seems to spend a lot of time in deserts. In the second one (I can't remember what either of them was called), there obviously wasn't enough plot to fill two hours so we had things like Random Rotating Poirot and Spinning Floating Happy Families. It was highly amusing. My family figured out the murderers in both of them, but we struggled in the second as we couldn't tell if the character was meant to be suspicious or if it was just bad acting.
Silent Witness - Stop playing with my emotions! I like murder mysteries because they make me think, but also because there's so many people dying that they rarely seriously injure/kill off the main characters/detectives who I am emotionally attached to. Again, the plot wasn't hard to figure out. In fact my brother got it first, which I think proves we have fully initiated him into the world of crime dramas. Forcing him to watch Midsommer Murders has obviously paid off!
Cricket - I love cricket. Although admittedly I haven't watched much of it, I have listened to excessive amounts of Test Match Special. I never thought I would understand my Dad and brother's obsessions with various sports, but since about 2004 my love of cricket has gradually grown and grown. I get it now. It worries me a bit. Ah well! And as a little side note, Stuart Broad still looks 12. This shouldn't have surprised me, but it did.
No doubt there are other things I should mention as well but I can' think of them right now. Tonight my family will find something to watch on tv in the absence of Doctor Who/Merlin/Robin Hood, which will be interesting. I see a poor compromise as a substitute on the horizon!
