Today I:

• went into town and picked up some food shopping
• cleared the surfaces in the kitchen of rubbish and things which should have been in cupboards
• wiped down all the surfacs
• cleaned the hob
• did 3 loads of washing up
• baked a double batch of chocolate cookies
• cleaned up and put away all the mess I made baking

Doctor Who
I don't know where to start with this! I grew up knowing about Doctor Who through my parents. I have a strong memory of attempting to explain the daleks to my friend just before New!Who started and trying to get her into it. I failed and she was not converted until the third series. I love it, and I suspect that I always will. It is amazing and ridiculous and wonderful. However, I do wish they would stop having mannequins/dummys/dolls/etc as the villains. I have automatonophobia and it was getting better. Now it's not. So, I love the show with most of my heart. It would have my whole heart if not for that slight complaint (I keep having to hide behind cushions!).

The UK
I am from here! *gasp* I've only ever been to Wales and England though, never made it to either Scotland or Northern Island, although I would like to. I love where I live and that you're never too far from the sea. I don't get to visit the sea anywhere near as much as I would like. I also miss hills. The area I live in is flat, really flat. Admittedly, I live on the edge of the fens, so you'd expect that. It's just, I regularly forget what proper hills are like. I live on top of a hill, except it would probably be called a slight slope nearly anywhere else. I go places and stare in bemusement at the hills.

Tea parties
Tea is awesome, cake is also awesome, as are small sandwiches and the like. Therefore tea parties are awesome. I very nearly had a tea party to celebrate my eighteenth birthday. One day, I plan to have one. I just need to get myself organised. I'm not good at organising social things. :) I may try and get one of my friends to throw me a tea party though. That could definitely work.

Sherlock
I adore murder mysteries. Absolutely adore them. Sherlock though was just so much fun! As soon as I heard that it was going to be on, I knew that my whole family would watch it together (murder mysteries are one of the few things we all agree on). It was just so much fun to watch. And ok yes, we figured out various bits of the plots, but that really didn't detract from anything. After all, you can usually tell who done it in Midsomer Murders because only the murderer is left alive. Sherlock now has a very proud place in my collection of murder mystery tv series dvds. Although I'd rather like there to be more soon. That would be lovely.

History
Yeah. Well, history. Where to start? I love it so much. I keep being asked by people, "so, what part of history are you interested in?" I always go "erm, all of it?" (and yes, I say it like a question). I once managed to narrow it down to "predominantly early modern history." When I was in sixth form and barely making it to any lessons, I hardly missed any history ones. It pretty much always interests me. I love trying to figure out people's motivations for their actions in particular. I'm trying to fill my gap year with as much history related stuff as possible. I've been doing reminiscence sessions which is where a group of volunteers go and talk to elderly people about their memories prompted by objects. This time we did toys and games. It was absolutely fascinating. Living history! I am also applying to volunteer at the local folk museum. I'm listening to podcasts on history at the moment, trying to find out more about the history of other countries. I think it's quite sad how little I know about non-British history, and what I do know is mainly euro-centric (I feel like a politician now that I've used that phrase :S ). The Spanish history I did was fascinating, as were the brief bits of middle eastern history I've been lucky enough to study (yay history of medicine!). Also, I am going to visit a friend of mine who has just started a history degree and she has promised to sneak me into some of her lectures. :) As my Mum said to someone at Bath Spa's open day, I "really just want to go and hide in a museum or an archive forever."

I am rather unsurprised by which one prompted the most commentary from me.

I got back from camping with my family on Sunday and promptly slept lots. Whilst I didn't have anywhere near as much of an issue with sleeping in a tent for a week as my Mum did, I still really enjoyed sleeping in my own bed. It was awesome. I woke up the next morning at half eight, feeling chirpy, and promptly freaked my whole family out. I was slightly confused by it too, but it was still pretty nice. But whilst we were away, I read a lot, felt really faint a lot (normally, I'm the one propping up people who feel faint, so this was an interesting change), sat in a lot of empty churches (I love quiet churches with few people in, not quite sure why though, but they're pretty peaceful places in my opinion) and ate absolutely loads of yummy food. Seriously, I love duck. And eclairs. But I won't list all of the foods which I ate whilst I was away which I love because that would take a ridiculously long time.

The bad thing (or well, one of them) about going on holiday was that we missed The Cambridge Folk Festival. Again. One of my close friends, Ruth, went with her family on the Friday and saw, amongst others, Bellowhead. Cue much jealous from a fair few of us. However, on the more positive side, her family have numerous tickets to their show in Cambridge in Novemeber, and a bunch of us have been invited to go along. So excited. I have been informed however that I will have to dance. I would like to know how I could not dance. I think it would be difficult.

Also, with a large group of my friends we are going back and watching all the Harry Potter films. I feel scarred. Seriously scarred (and it is at least partly my own fault, which is even more worrying).

We had fresh peas from the garden with dinner. Sadly, I only had something like eight peas as half our plants didn't grow this year. Hopefully we'll have peas at work soon and then I can buy loads and eat all of them. Fresh peas are amazing and wonderful and delicious. Absolutely fab.

My Dad mocked my reaction to the peas fairly heavily BUT I DON'T CARE. FRESH PEAS ARE AWESOME.
