Whilst recording podfic today, I kept saying murdered instead of murmured. I then had to spend a fair amount of time not saying "there's been a murder!" in my poor excuse for a Scottish accent a la Taggart. I think this is the final conclusive proof that I watch too many murder mysteries. Clearly the obvious way to spend the rest of my day is to go watch Lewis.

I spent a fair amount of time knitting whilst watching Lewis yesterday. Despite having the DVDs of nearly the entirety of Lewis, I haven't watched any in far too long. I'm also hoping to actually finish knitting the scarf I've been making on and off for over a year. It's rather ugly and uneven but I am very fond of it. It's going to be very warm though which is the main thing.

[livejournal.com profile] no_tags has started posting which is incredibly exciting. I'm trying to comment on things as I'm a bit rubbish at that most of the time and I'm trying to make an effort.

In other news, I had a great time in Nottingham and have actually been keeping reasonably busy. So that's good!

Oh Campion. I love you. Seriously, most perfect casting (apart from Oates, who for some reason I can't put my finger on, just isn't Oates for me). One day, I will get hold of more of the books and I read even more of them. Why are so many of them out of print? I don't want to read the pyschological thriller ones, I want to read the slightly silly amateur detective in the 1930s ones. Ah well. I will continue to search every second hand bookshop/charity shop I come across for copies.

Yesterday, I had an awesome conversation with my Dad about music. Normally, I go out for coffee with my Mum on a Sunday afternoon, but yesterday I went out with my Dad instead. It was different (less trauling through emotional shit) but was still pretty awesome. He reccommended a bunch of CDs from his collection that I might be interested in. I had attempted to look through his CDs myself, but got rather daunted. It is quite large. So now I have lots of exciting things to listen to, and hopefully I will like some of them.

Right now I am listening to the highlights of the Cambridge Folk Festival (three hours of it! Three hours!), which is rather nice. And I have done masses of ironing so feel like I have achieved something so far today which is also rather good. I think I have spent one too many days doing nothing at all lately.

5 questions meme:
- Comment with "WHEE! SMILE!"
- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

[livejournal.com profile] fathomlessspite asked me the following questions:

1. Which Doctor, 9, 10 or 11?
11. I love them all very much, but 11 trumps 9 and 10.

2. What are you doing now, school/college/uni/work?
I am at sixth form college, in my last year. I am terrified.

3. What is your favourite dessert?

Oh, this is hard. I love dessert. I really really do. My all time favourite though is probably banoffee pie. Yum yum yum!

4. If you had to pick one TV show to recommend that everyone should watch which would it be?

This one is hard too! I'd probably have to go for New Tricks though. It's a murder mystery (although I do watch non-murder mystery shows, on the odd occassion), it makes me think a bit and it makes me laugh too. Also, I am very attached to all of the characters.

5. How long have you been on lj? What brought you here?
Apparently, I have been here since the end of August 2009. I did not know that. I'm not entirely sure how I ended up here though. A friend sent me a link or something I believe. And the idea just seemed rather nice.

Summer!

I think I have drunk too much ribena. I didn't know such a thing was possible.

Anyway! It is now the summer holidays! We broke up on Wednesday at lunch. My last lesson of the year was tutor, so a bunch of people skipped and went home even earlier. This meant that there we all got a larger share of the box of chocolates my tutor brought in. School generally for the last week was actually pretty good. I was helping organise the History Conference on Monday and Tuesday, which was fun and I got to hear some really interesting talks. It also helped that we didn't really do much, and even when we did, the teachers tried to make it a bit more interesting because our attention spans were even shorter than normal.

To celebrate the holidays, me and a bunch of my friends had a gathering. The summer vibe was rather spoiled at one point when it hailed, but it was good fun. However, whilst playing the water game (listing things in a category, any repetition or hesitation and you get splashed), someone made us do digits of pi. The only reason we got further than three decimal places is because Ryan told us what to say. Someone only got splashed when they were foolish enough to ignore him. I was also sadly disheartened by how poorly they did when I gave them famous detectives. They only got three! Although as my Mum later pointed out, most people aren't quite as obsessed by murder mysteries as I am.

And now, onto today! I finally got round to watching the Doctor Who Confidential which went with the Big Bang. My family had recorded it for me at the time, but for some strange reason I hadn't watched it. It's hardly been anytime at all since Series 5 finished and I'd already partially forgotten the warm fuzzy glow the show gave me.

As of tomorrow, I am off to France for two weeks with my family where I will have no internet. I am still not sure if I am looking forward to it or dreading it, but we shall see. And hopefully the Campion book I ordered off Amazon will arrive before we leave as I really want to read it. I kind of doubt it will turn up, but I can still hope.

Right now I am watching Spooks. I missed it last night because I went to bed at 8 due to feeling ill and nobody thought to record it for me! As always when I watch things on iPlayer it's taking me about 5 times as long as normal (4:43 minutes in half an hour!). The main reason for this is I had to pause it and spend a while going is that Rani's Dad whose name I can't remember? The answer is yes. This makes me all sorts of happy. I've no idea what he's going to do (probably be a bad guy, at least it looks like that right now) but still! This is just like the game me and mum play when watching murder mysteries. We always try and spot someone who's been in another mureder mystery we watch as once you've been in one, you're probably going to end up in many more.

So now Spooks is conected to SJA (which I can watch at the right time today due to being off ill and my brother having a far away District football match) in the same way Midsommer Murders is connected to everything under the sun. And as a side note, Spooks is connected to Cadfael because Hermione Norris was in an episode of it once many years ago. She had long hair in plaits if I remember correctly.
