Stats: I recorded 38 full podfics and 2/5 of a chaptered work this year. I recorded around 15 hours of podfic in 13 fandoms (Bandom, Doctor Who, Merlin, Lewis, Sherlock, Being Human, Becoming Human, Historical RPF, Horrible Histories, Narnia, Hawaii 5-0, X-Men: First Class and The Social Network).
What was the best podfic you made this year?
Most popular? According to my mediafire stats, Gerard Way for Skeleton Crew Fashions. According to AO3 hits, If I Cannot Be Your Queen.
Most underappreciated? I am really fond of the Last Duchess.
Personal favorite, for whatever reason? Falcon and a Dove. It was recorded cold by listening to leish’s recording of the story by sophinisba which was inspired by a piece of art by yue_ix. It is so transformative and it’s kind of amazing how all this different fannish things came from one thing and I love that.
Most difficult to make? If You Liked the Book, You’ll Hate the Movie. Mainly because of length and my concentration issues, but also because Jenn loves run on sentences.
Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"? Her Balm, Her Bane or My Best Kept Secret. Both stories dealing with things I was not expecting to enjoy, both quite dark, and I fell in love with both of them and had to record them.
Most fun to make? The glittery twit!fic I recorded with argentumlupine
Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted? Of Love, Biscuits and Free Will and Mary, Queen of Chance turned out not how I wanted. I recorded them when I was trying to unpodblock myself, then the sound quality was not so great and editing was hellish. But I got them done!
Biggest learning experience? The whole year? Does that count?
What's next? Do you have any podfic goals for next year? Finish If You Liked the Book, You’ll Hate the Movie. I also have some TSN fics I would love to record.
Other bits and pieces: I posted my first podfic on January 10th. This end of year review also marks roughly a whole year since then. Podfic is the thing that’s got me actively involved in fandom, talking to people and forming friendships and I am incredibly grateful. Podfic fandom is such a wonderful, amazing place. You are all so awesome.
