My Mum and brother are currently having a bit of a spat which I am attempting to ignore. So, have a post about good things!I really enjoyed Doctor Who, it was awesome. I'm not entirely sure I understand what happened and my mind is still boggling even though I saw it on Saturday and it is now Wednesday. I figured out who Mels was pretty quickly, just to get back at my Mum for figuring out the River Song/Melody Pond thing within the first thirty seconds of A Good Man Goes to War.
The Comedy Prom was seriously fantastic. We didn’t know anything about it, saw that it was on part way through and watched it. I enjoyed it so much I went and found the whole thing on iPlayer and watched it from the start. Tim Minchin saying that he wished that “everyone in the cheap seats should take off their clothes and writhe around naked on the floor whilst a member of the royal family plays the tune to Doctor Who on a keytar.” That and Sue Perkins dressed in armour singing the word penis over and over.
Athletics. I just have so many ~feelings~ about it. It’s slightly hard to figure out though as I normally wouldn’t want to cry for joy when I see Andy Turner or Mo Farah being interviewed. But I am happy and have been having a great time watching everything which has been going on in Daegu. Although I think it would be nice if people spent more time going “you got a silver medal, well done!” rather than “aren’t you disappointed you didn’t get gold?” Silver is an amazing achievement. Mo Farah is the first person not representing an African nation to have won a medal in the 10k since 1991. That’s pretty damn good if you ask me. I also rediscovered my love of watching pole vaulting. It is one of the weirdest sports, but rather addictive to watch, even as I was wincing when someone’s pole snapped.
The Great British Bake Off. Oh show of my heart. It combines some of my favourite things –f ood, history and funny people. I’m still at the point where I’m not too sure who half the competitors are. The problem is though that watching it just makes me so hungry. I also now want to go round my friend Ruth’s and force her to bake me bread. I think I should probably refrain from this considering it’s her birthday.
And now I should probably go and write some more of my personal statement. I’m at the point where I can’t remember anything I’ve done in my life or why I love history. And I’ve never been particularly good at talking my achievements up
