7 Questions Meme! I got some questions from
argentumlupine
1.What's the farthest from home you've ever been? (and did you like it there?)
I think the furthest I’ve been is Greece, specifically Crete. I liked it there. I went with my family in the early spring so it was really quiet and not too hot (I can’t cope with heat). There was this awesome taverna right by where we were staying where me and my parents had the most amazing fish. We shared it between us and they had caught it that morning. It was amazing. Also, literally everywhere we went, they gave us raki. I think I was maybe 13 at the time. My main memory is of it being really beautiful and lovely and not packed with people.
2. What's your all-time favorite pairing (in any fandom) and why do you love them?
This is a cruel question. A CRUEL QUESTION. I thought about this a lot and I think, after much consideration, that my favourite pairing is Amy/Rory (Doctor Who). There’s something about them, both individually and as a couple, which is simultaneously ordinary and extraordinary.
3. What's your dream job?
OH GOSH. I want to do something with history but I don’t know what exactly. I want to sit in a library all day with old manuscripts and learn stuff and tell other people all about it. I don’t know how I’m going to manage that but we’ll see.
4. What's a fun fact about your hometown?
Ok, so I live in a village in the countryside. Fun fact? Erm. Every year, we have a village sports day. It’s kind of like a school sports day but for the whole village and with a produce show. I normally help out by running a stall. I think last year I manned Whack the Rat and the year before I did slippery pole.
5. What was your favorite picture book when you were young?
Oh gosh. I had this picture book called Katherine and the Lion which I loved. It was so pretty and I used to pretend that the Katherine was me (even though she was a redhead) and I'd go on adventures with my friend the lion. Also, special mention goes to Mummy Laid An Egg, which was a fantastic picture book about where babies came from.
6. Was there a specific podfic you listened to that inspired you to record your own? If so, which? (If not, what was the first podfic you ever listened to?)
I don’t think there was anything specific. The idea sort of cropped up during pod_aware I think. It just made it seem like something I could do. Then I was browsing through people’s snowflake challenge posts for things they would like. I stumbled across one which wanted podfic and I just thought “screw this, I can do this and it’ll make someone happy.” I just loved it and ended up recording three Hawaii 5-0 ficlets, instead of the one I intended to do. As for the first podfic I listened to, I’m not entirely sure. I think it was probably Forever, Now or Gerard Way’s Vampire Detective Agency. They got me through my family holiday last year when I couldn’t sleep.
7. What form would your Patronus take?
I genuinely have no idea. A bird, something which is free and can fly away.
So, if you'd like questions or want to ask me anything, let me know!

First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
Ok, so, I mainly did self-insert stuff with books. The one TV show I can really remember was this animated, one off special about fairies. We recorded on video (and I just went and checked this! Some of our old videos are actually helpfully labelled remarkably) at Christmas in 2000. I watched it over and over and I loved it. Thinking about it now, I’m fairly sure that’s where my interest in not entirely good fairies came from. I’m sure there was other stuff, but that’s the first one I can remember.
First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
I’m fairly sure it was Harry Potter.
Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
I have no idea. It was probably Harry/Draco though.
First RPS/RPF I read:
I think it was bandom actually. I’d been a bit concerned about RPF but
paperclipbitch (whose journal I had been lurking around for literally years. Jenn, I swear I’m not actually creepy) posted something and I just kind of went “eh, I don’t actually know who they are.” Yeah. Bandom is a black hole.
First fanfiction I read that made me think, 'YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...':
Probably something by
paperclipbitch again. I love her writing style so much.
Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
I didn’t actually write anything with a pairing for ages. Everything I wrote was gen. Gen all the way! The first fic I wrote with a pairing in was actually DanRad/Tom Felton for a ficathon (the prompt included the word cricket. I had no choice but to fill it!)
First OTP:
Erm, I wasn’t really OTPish for ages. I think it was probably Luke/Clyde (SJA) though.
First fannish friend I met in person:
I’ve met very few people which is sad. I’d love to meet some of you guys! The only person really is a friend of mine, Vic, who I’ve known for years and recently found out was fannish. We don’t have many fandoms in common but it’s definitely brought us closer together. We recently had a failed attempt at a Sherlock marathon (I was tired and fell asleep).
First character I formally roleplayed:
Luna Lovegood. I’ve done a lot of roleplaying and really love it. It was my first major fannish involvement. I roleplayed as Luna for years and it was awesome. I ended up stopping when I got depressed as I just couldn’t write anymore, but I’ve recently started again which has been nice.

5. Picture books! \o/ My favorite was a Sesame Street book called The Monster at the End of this Book. It was one of my mom's favorites, too, and she always read it in Grover-voice and she was so FUNNY my brothers and I would ask her to read it over and over and over again. I totally blame her for my podfic voices. :)
6. Pod-aware was definitely my inspiration, too.

Date: 2012-03-02 04:14 pm (UTC)That's actually really interesting. I think my podfic style might have been influenced by how my Dad read stories to me. Hmm, that's a really interesting thought!
